Shield
If anyone was any tips about building a strap shield, I would appreciate it. I have what used to be a crappy punch shield in my garage. it is now reduced to two layers of closed cell foam. I'm going down to my friend's house so I could get some plywood and work with that.

If you could get a hold of the stuff seatbelts are made from, that would probably work better than leather.

Leather gets wet, starts to stink and wears down easily.Leinad wrote:http://www.geddon.org/index.php/Constructing_a_Strap_Shield

Ok, I'm just having someone make a shield for me. It seems like too much trouble with my limited funds!!

Re: Shield
Duuuude, makin' a shield is MAD easy. Go buy 3 rolls of camp pad (assuming you're going to start over from scratch) and get a hold of a piece of 1/2" plywood that's big enough to cut your desired shield shape (I recommend either 26" round or 24x36" heater/teardrop/coffin to begin with, round shield HIGHLY preferred) out of, grab a long, heavy dog collar at a flea market for a couple bucks, get 4 bolts, 4 nuts, 2 yd of canvas, and a cap of DAP and you've got yourself a shield with a minimum of effort.
Reply if you want more detail, I guess.

To make the shield with those materials would be like...$25JackyTrekker wrote:Arrakis wrote:Duuuude, makin' a shield is MAD easy. Um dude...You save money by making your own stuff. Edhellen is a professional weapon making company and they gotta make money so their markup is larger.JackyTrekker wrote:It's called saving money.

making your own shield costs about 25$
Confirming that edhellen's shield's are overpriced.
however, their blades, totally worth it.
they last very well under a good thrashing.
Re: Shield
But Edhellen has crappy pommels. Plus, I don't like the weight of Edhellen swords. It makes me feel awkward.

Re: Shield
their pommels dont go out out me, probably cause i dont let them get hit or something. ive noticed everyone elses fall off though. i usually weight their swords accordingly after i get one anyway. i agree with not liking the initial feel of them.
Re: Shield
That is kinda weird because it does seam like almost everyone's rip apart, including both of mine. Do you fight mostly speed mode or range mode?
Re: Shield
oh, i never put my hand near the pommel. that's incorrect fighting posture. makes your swings suck too. doesnt everyone know that?
Re: Shield
Yea but you get better range. I like it anyways, espically with sword and board since the sword doesn't do much of the blocking.
Anywho, that could be it. If that the case though, I'm surprised Michael pommel hasn't like, exploded lol.

Re: Shield
Let us never speak of Micheal's sword. That thing is F.U.B.A.R. because of me.

Re: Shield
I was referring to the way he fights with it.
I think I should be able to fix it but I'm gona have to redo it a bit.
