Slightly messed up internet problem.
For some reason, I keep getting pop-ups. The only sight I've visited for the past two or three days now is deviantART, youtube, and this place. Anyways, I want it fixed. I'll run a scan with Norton 2009, and it'll be fine for a few hours, then does it again. It's not so much a problem as an annoyance. I do have semi-have-it-under-control. And I can't format because I don't know where the OS disc is. So..help me please. Not even Norton can save me!!

Norton is shit.
Get the trial of kaspersky
And get avg 9...Much much much better than norton
And sorry for language but its the truth
Try system restoring to a previous date by the way.

Re: Slightly messed up internet problem.
First, go hear and run a free scan
http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
And no, it's not the truth. Studys have shown the Norton is one of the more powerful ones out there, it can just be really annoying at times. Anywho, no scanner is perfict, by running the one above it might find something Norton missed (Kaspersky is probably the best out there).
When you run the scans does Norton actually find anything? It sounds like Norton is deleteing most of the virus but something it doesnt find is reinfecting you, probably on boot-up. I had a simular problem once.

Re: Slightly messed up internet problem.
Actually go get http://www.free-av.com/ it;s antivir which according to the latest tests pwns kaspersky (it caught 98% so its still really good but antivir is free.) also get adaware and scan with it those 2 things should solve your problem if not reformat time most likely also if u don't have a router i recommend getting a software firewall but that's another matter.
Also make sure to REMOVE norton asap and don't scan with anything while nortons installed.
Also yes norton does indeed suck its around 97 percent on the 2008 tests which isn't horrible but compared to antivir and kaspersky it isn't as good also that kaspersky free scan only scans and finds things but doesn't let you remove them.

I wanted him to run the free scan to try to find out if it is in fact a virus.

Yea but he cant use the scan while nortons installed it will go crazy on him because anti-viruses don't like each other.

Re: Slightly messed up internet problem.
Thanks for all the concern, but ti's taken care of. Norton just took some time detecting all the Trojans. And because Mozilla Firefox is running in safe mode, nothing has happened. God damned Trojans!!
