This one's for all the Florentiners...
i don't know about you guys(thats why im askin) but i dont feel comfortable without a weapon in both hands...i feel that my off hand is defense, and my main hand is attack
if anyone else feels that there is a better way to florentine, please elaborate

If you feel like your left hand is defence only, you should definatly try working with shields some. The biggest advantage of florinete is being able to attack two spots at once. If your only using the left for defense then its basically an ineffective shield.
In your other topic, you said shields get in the way for you and slow you down. I haven't really seen you fight with a shield but try holding it close to your body. It covers you better and gives you more room to manuver but makes you more vunerable to wraps. Also, move the shield with your attack. Whenever I first started using a shield it felt ocward and unwieldy. After you use it though that goes away.
If you want to stick with florintene, remember these things
1. You are the only weapon style that can attack two places at once.
2.You have the ability to easly overwhelm your opponent.
3. You can switch from being highly defensive to highly offensive to balanced with ease
Therefore, try being a berserker or very technical.
My $.02

it's not that my off hand is defense only, it's just that it's best at defense, i also use it to distract my opponent, i also use it to move other peoples weapons out of the way
Re: This one's for all the Florentiners...
If you feel your left is defensive.. try fighting single blue only with your left hand. Im guessing your a righty?? but this is the adivce Joey and Matt gave me for Sword n Board.. If i loose my right (Sword) arm i can drop shiled and fight with my left.. its hard and i still dont have it down yet. but i would guess it would apply to Fluerintine aswell.. ambidextarity!

Now to throw my 38gil (or whatever 2 pennies is in gil) at your nose.
You should follow Mr.RealmLeaderSirPerson's advice in my opinion.
I dont like fighting you when you do the florentine with the second weapon as a shield mostly because I can feel when my sword pushes through your "shield" and still connects with your body and it is very discouraging to me.
If you think shields slow you down, just use my kite >.> We all know Daniel would love to fight you with it in your hands You should actually try making or buying a shield with techply, probably a teardrop. Its very light.

Florenten is alot harder than it looks. To be a truly effective florinetener you need to be able to comfortably attack with both weapons. As far as doing that goes, you could try switching your use. In other words, attack with your left and defend with your right. After you do that for a while you may find it easyer to use. Another thing you can try is to develop a pattern. It sucks if your opponet learns it, but attacking a set way lets you throw alot more shots which is important for florentine. Along those lines, a great offence is a great defnce. If you keep on attacking it may prevent your opponet from attacking because they are to busy blocking. Just some things you can try.
Btw, what shields have you tryed? Strap, punch, or both?
We don't have any but you may like a punch round

Re: This one's for all the Florentiners...
i've literally never used a shield in an actual fight, i used one in the sword and board tournament we had a while back, but i abandoned it a few minutes into the fight and went with just thinking about my sword
Re: This one's for all the Florentiners...
Ah
Are you doing anything this afternoon? We could have some one on ones and you could try both types of shields since I have Unaki's
