So about the whole spear leangth thing. This video says 8-14 feet. I read/heard somewhere that the best length for a spear is one that you can just barrly be able to hold your fingures on the top of it. Finaly, I have read/heard about a few fighters that fight with short spears and kick tail.

It all depends on style. I guess an eight foot spear would be best though. Not too big, but it gives you decent range with control.

it depends on what you are using it for. you'd want 5-8feet for skirmish fighting like we do, but that guy was reccomending 8-14's because we was talking about using them at ragnarok in a large shield line. you want a big big spear for shield wall fighting but you definantly dont want a 10-14 for one on ones through eight on eights because the people get easily split up and it becomes inaffective to have such a long spear when only 2 or 3 guys are running at you. instead of 15 in a line in front of you while you poke at them from 12 feet away.
