Our Sash

Good news everyone, I found someone who has an embroidery machine and would be willing to mass produce our crest on a sash. Those of you who read the clubs constitution should already be framiliure with this, but for everyone else, the plan was to give members a sash with our crest on it once they reach a certain membership status.

There are two issues with this that need to be addressed however. The first is how people get the sash. The original plan was to give the sash to people who reached member status with the moon missing from the crest. If the member reached elder member status, the moon would be added and the crest would be finished. The two things I don't like about this is that A, that would make it so that most members where wearing an incomplete sash which might confuse people as to what our crest actually is. B, it encourages people to become elder members, and I'm starting to think that elder member status should be highly voluntary and be equivalent to actually joining a house. Back when we where thinking about this, we also had the idea to give new members a crestless sash, but that idea didnt really work out. What do you all think? Should plain members get the full crest and if so, what, if anything, should be diffrent about the elders sash.

The second issue is with the sash itself. The origonal plan was that everyone's sash would be the same except for the crest, to encourage a sence of unity. Although its not in the constitution, we where planning on making exceptions for people who didn't wear belts with their garb. Should all the sashs be the same or should we alow some variattion, such as in length or color? If no on the color, should the sash be made of normal fabric or black satin (less durable but shiny). Also, should it end in a rectagle or triangle? To help visualize some possibilitys, I took/made these to pictures. Leave some feedback!

Some uhm yea... could I please get some feedback on this? Anyone who becomes a regular at the realm will probably end up getting one.

The first sash would work for regular members and the second one would work for elder members. We could still tell them apart and the crest would actually be pretty much the same.

I spose that if we make the plain one alittle longer when can go back latter and cut it into a triangle. I don't know if I said it in my origonal rant or not but the second one may clash with some peoples garb, especially the more red/yellowish stuff.

I really like the second one. I think the triangle cut would hang the best when you're wearing it, and as for clashing...yeah... it would probably clash for some of my stuff and I know other people might have issues too. But its so pretty! I'd wear it regardless of it clashing or not I guess. Length is going to need to be more custom probably, since you have people with different waist sizes.

As for the length, we could always just make it really long, then let members adjust as they please.

That's kinda what I started thinking about. Then you could just trim it down to size if you needed to.

the triangle shaped one looks essteticly pleasing..Do not make it out of Satin..! it will rip and people will cry..as for the crest no crest thing. put the crest on all of them and for elder members do the blue lines around the edges. on the subject of the coulur all of them should be black.. and sizes could be made to fit each person ok im done

Good point and very made. I could probably make a cheap prototype out of something to put around a belt.

No need, as soon as I make one I'm gona give it to the embrody person and see how it turns out. That will happen so soon as I stop being lazy and figure out how to use moms sewing machine (that or hand sew it).

I'd offer to sew it...but I have a ton of sewing projects going on at moment. (Yay for goth lolita rave style!) But yeah...if I get done with all my stuff and you -still- haven't done it I will.

I've recently taking up sewing. I find it quite enjoyable. I'm terrible at it though, bit I like it.

Unforchantly it's flawed and incomplete. It will be ready by beltaine though! If nothing else.

How is it flawed? It looks perfectly fine to me.

There's no boarders for one. For two, its missing a dark blue strip on the right side. For third, theres a werid buldge on the top part of the moon. Finaly, I'm starting to think the image should be bigger.

Ah. I see now. Anyways, it still looks good for use.

I would have to agree with Brigantia, I realize that original idea was primarily based off of my opinions and thought processes however with the problems you brought up I have realized the errors in my previous theories.
I believe that a sash should be given to every realm member, all sashes should have the full crest on them. Now, this being said, I also believe that we should have a way to distinguish between standard and elder members. So as I said previously I agree with Brigantia in the fact that the lines around the crest as shown in the second photo Leinad portrayed should be embroidered only on the elder members sash.
As for the material to make the sash out of, it is my opinion that it should be a thick, dark, and very heavy duty cloth.
As for the customization options, I don't believe that the colors should be customizable, the sash is not meant to appeal to anyone or to match garb, it is simply there as a representation of the realm we are from so that people know at the very least were we are from. However length, in my opinion, should be fully customizable by the sash's bearer.
